Awesome Barrel that can shoot under 0.50 MOA
All,
I am very pleased with my new tack driving WIN .308 SS HBAR Bull Barrel upper (on a DPMS LR 308 lower) from Moriarti. Juliya is great to work with. I had a little issue being just a little undergassed when I first used it. However, it’s better to have the gas barrel hole a little small rather than too big. Juliya was chill and paid postage back to Moriarti fixed it up (quick turn-around) and even upgraded my to a nickel cobalt bolt group. The barrel is shooting good now and seems to get more accurate with every range trip.
I have included two photos from my last trip. The paper target is at 100 yards shooting Federal Gold Metal Match 175 grain (on semi wobbly bench, but, using a lead sled). One 3-shot group is about 0.5 inch center-to-center, another is about 0.75 inch center-to-center and the worst is 1.25 inch center-to-center (I take responsibility for that - too much caffeine?). Anyways, the couple tight groups show what the barrel can do with good factory ammo. Hand loads cold probably carve another 1/8-1/4 MOA off.
The metal target photo is at 415 yards shooting the same ammo. The one 3-shot group is about 1.5 inch center-to-center. That’s 0.34 MOA! Yes, I had a huge smile driving back from that photo op! That’s damn good shooting from semi-auto. I am now ready to hunt squirrels at 400 yards.
Thank you Juliya!
Best regards.
Ken Martins
